Our Body Keeps the Score: Listening to the Wisdom of Your Physical Self
Share
We live in our heads. We analyze, we plan, we overthink. But while your mind is busy writing stories, your body is keeping a factual, felt-sense record of everything.
That tightness in your chest when you're anxious? The knot in your stomach when you feel unsafe? The constant tension in your neck, shoulders? This is your body speaking its truth. It's storing the energy of past experiences that your mind has maybe even forgotten.
Somatic healing is the practice of dropping out of your head and into the felt sense of your body. It’s getting curious. Instead of asking "Why do I feel this way?" try asking "Where do I feel this in my body?"
Start simple. Lie down, close your eyes, and just scan your body from your toes to your head. No judgment. Just notice. Where is there tension? Where is there ease? Place a warm hand there and just breathe. This isn't about fixing; it's about listening.
By honoring the wisdom of your body, you begin to release the stories it has been holding onto. You learn the language of your own being, and that is the most profound conversation you will ever have.
